Pathfinders Devotional: A Man's Gotta Know His Limits

Do you limit God from giving you His very best? Does God's best mean He will bless you with more money, better health, more influence, greater knowledge…? Do you believe that God is truly concerned with YOU, among the 7 billion other individuals on Earth?

As men, we often love to build things or create things out of raw materials or smaller pieces. With enough time and instruction, many men can construct nearly anything, provided the parts to complete it are available. But can you imagine trying to build something out of nothing? Perhaps musicians or artists accomplish something close, but musical notes don't support structural beams and painted lines can't cloth your body. However, there is One who has created something - created everything - out of absolutely nothing!

In the same way that this is unimaginable, God desires to bless you and give you His very best. Our limited minds can simply not grasp what God desires to accomplish in us, through us and for us. God's best starts with knowing Him intimately. Jesus prayed,

"Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." John 17:3

It was to His disciplines, who knew Him, that Jesus said,

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." Luke 11:9.

These are not necessarily tangible returns that Jesus assures His disciplines of. While God can and certainly does bless us in tangible ways, perhaps His greater concern is a relationship with us that can best be described as overwhelming.
